Position Announcement: Fisheries Conservation Biologist

The Downeast Salmon Federation is seeking an outgoing and organized individual to coordinate citizen science programing in coastal Washington and Hancock Counties focused on river herring and smelt population assessments and restoration initiatives. The successful candidate will possess exceptional outreach and program development skills, communication and science translation skills, and a solid understanding of community – based conservation biology. Extensive familiarity with aquatic ecology, fisheries and the Downeast region is strongly recommended.

Ability to conduct field work in all weather conditions and significant mechanical aptitude is essential. Database operation and maintenance is a critical component and responsibility of this position.

The position is open immediately and is full time with a competitive salary and benefits package. A valid drivers license and clean driving record is required. This position will be based in either East Machias or Columbia Falls, but the successful candidate may also work from a home office in the region.
